
Born 7 Nov 1835 in Montgomery, AL to future Supreme Court Justice John Archibald and Anne (Goldthwaite).
Studied engineering in Austria. Appointed Lieutenant, Engineer Corps, CSA at the outbreak of the Civil War. Paroled on 28 April 1865.
Removed to New Orleans following the war to practice law in partnership with his father.
Died 13 Mar 1888 in Washington, DC.
