The Whiskey Rebellion of 1791–1794. An uprising mostly in western Pennsylvania in protest of the first domestic product tax passed by Congress under Treasury Secretary Alexander Hamilton. President George Washington led a 13,000-man militia to crush the revolt, proving the new federal government could enforce its laws.

During World War II, hundreds of thousands of American women formed the backbone of the nation’s early air defense network. These women would fulfill roles a “Skywatchers,” scanning the horizon from high rooftops and coastal posts.
They would engage as “Plane Plotters” in high security facilities tasked with filtering raw data from spotters and other sources while manually positioning markers across massive horizontal map tables.These jobs they would do and more, as the front line of “Home Defense.”
