Battalion Sergeant Major Benjamin W. Flack

Born 1 Aug 1895 in Baltimore, MD to David B. and Cornelia (Masson) Flack.

Enlisted in the MD National Guard, 16 Jun 1916. Service with Gen. Pershing during the Mexican “Border War, 1916-1917. Promoted to BN Sgt. Maj., Co. A, 5th MD Infantry 1 Sep 1919. WWI overseas service, Center Sector; Meuse-Argonne.

Served one term in the Maryland House of Delegates as a Republican from Anne Arundel County.

Veterans Administration Post Office manager and administration at Perry Point Medical Center in Cecil County, MD.

Active member and promoter of the American Legion, VFW, and several other military fraternity organizations throughout his life.

Location: Green Mount Cemetery, Baltimore, MD. Area Northeast, Lot 215.

Service Notes:

The Meuse-Argonne Offensive was the largest and deadliest battle fought by the American Expeditionary Force (AEF) in World War I. It took place in the “Center Sector” of the Meuse-Argonne region. The offensive was a key part of the broader Hundred Days Offensive with the goal of breaking through German defenses.
